Rocket N1

As a predecessor of the Energia rocket, the N1 had a simple name but was associated with years of research and development. Designed as a heavy duty rocket the Soviet Union planned to send military equipment and satellites to space but later on attention was devoted to manned flights to the Moon, Mars or Venus. The N1 was the counterpart of the US Saturn-V Rocket.
